It’s been quite some time since I wrote anything here, perhaps inexcusably long. (Three years!) A few things have happened since then, though:
- A new short story compilation has been completed: Tales of Alchemy. It still needs editing and some cover art, but beyond that, it’s basically ready to go.
- A new short-ish novel: Fractured Harmony. This is a sci-fi story about a future society with a collective consciousness, and modern-day Seattle. This is pretty much in the same state as Tales of Alchemy. About 80% of it is a NaNoWriMo novel.
- A new co-written comic is beginning soon if I can manage to keep up with the drawing. I’ll post more about that as it comes up.
If anyone is interested in reading/editing Tales of Alchemy or Fractured Harmony, feel free to email me. comments at nafina.com
There are now direct eBook downloads for Soar. You can also read it online, in your browser.
In addition to adding PDF and HTML formats, the EPUB and MOBI files for various e-readers are now free from onerous registrations and other hassles. Viva la revolucion! Please link to the above page if you wish to pass this to others.
Thank you all for your support!
As promised, the EPUB (for almost all non-Kindle readers) on Lulu is now free. Please go here if you’d like to download it, and tell your friends! 🙂 Amazon’s minimum price is $0.99, so for now, that one is still a purchase. I may post a direct mobi download from this site later, but you may also convert it using Calibre; emailing the file using the Amazon online conversion service may also work, but I haven’t tried this. (And be wary of 3G charges if you have a 3G Kindle.)
The other book stores (iBooks, Nook) will be receiving the price update in the coming days or weeks, but as I mentioned above, you can use the EPUB to get a copy more quickly if you like.
The print book cannot, of course, be set to free. However, it has been reduced to basically at-cost at this point.
Thank you all for your support up to now! And do keep in mind that there are Facebook pages for me and Soar.
Next project: Getting the wiki going!
There is now an email announcement list! Huzzah! Instead of having to subscribe to the RSS, Facebook, or Twitter feed just to find out major release info about Soar, you can receive an email when anything major happens. It’s intended to be pretty targeted and low-traffic, so basically, the next thing I expected to send out on it is a book release announcement.
For full updates, please continue to watch the blog-related feeds. More exciting things will be coming as we get closer to publishing time!
The web site is finally up. ^^;
Hello there, this is Ashlyn. I’ll be your author today. Please keep your hands and feet inside the cart at all times, as we can’t guarantee what they will turn into if you don’t.
We’re operating on a small crew, with a shoestring budget, so this won’t be a big fancy site with “trailers” and such. (Trailers for books — what a strange concept — though I’ve seen a few at Amazon lately.) However, news about anything in progress, as well as found links with mentions of anything, will be posted up here. So if you’d like to keep track of anything, this is the place to do it! The RSS is the best way, but I’m also working on an announcement list in email for things like “hey, it’s published!”
The main project right now, as you can guess from the site layout, is To Dream, Perchance to Soar, or just plain Soar as we call it. The quickest synopsis I can give in this space that will do it any justice is “girl wants wings, changes world”. 😀 I believe it will appeal to a number of groups of people who are not well-served by much fiction these days. I recommend looking at the page for real info.
As of a day or two ago, the writing of the main story has completed, and cover art has been created. Extra content is in progress, as well as some editing. I’m expecting it to be available by the end of summer. My delivery method of choice is e-book, both because I’m rather enamored with them myself right now, and because it saves trees; but there will also be a publish-on-demand dead-tree copy for order. I’m not sure who all will carry the e-book, but I’m expecting Amazon for Kindle at the least. I’m also going to try to get it onto at least one EPUB compatible site for everyone else.
Thank you so much for visiting! I hope you’ll stay around, and I hope I can give you something worth staying for.
